Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Today at Target, they were having a little special Birthday Party for Dr. Seuss. I was panicking, because we weren't all ready to go until 10 minutes to 10:00. I was thinking on the drive there, "there is going to be a ton of people there and it's not going to be fun... la de da..." etc. Anyway, we pull into the parking lot, and there were hardly any cars there! Especially for a Saturday morning! So then I was thinking, great... they aren't having it here at this Target. We walk in, no signs. Nothing. There were balloons taped to the ground that had arrows pointing down the aisle, so we followed, just in case. Lucky us! There was the cat in the hat at the end of the hall. Woo hoo! Jacob got super shy and didn't want me to put him down throughout the whole thing. AND, we were the only one's there. For about fifteen minutes, which was all Jacob could last, two more families showed up. That's it! They didn't advertise this very well at all, the only way I knew was that I fell upon it on one of my favorite crafty blogs. Supposedly all the Targets were doing it this morning.
Jacob finally relaxed as we were leaving, because The Cat In The Hat... asked for a High-Five. He was all over that. I wish I would have remembered that is pretty much the only way to warm up to someone within 15 minutes. It doesn't matter who you are, if you ask for a high-five from this kid, he jumps on that opportunity.
Notice how I have Jacob on the opposite side of the cat? Because he freaked getting that close, but on the other side, he was fine. Oh well, someday he'll enjoy this stuff, I hope. It was really fun, and Jacob got a baggie of treats and a coloring page with some stickers. And, most importantly, I got some pictures.
