All I have to say is, I'm so glad I did this. It was hard, it was challenging, and I can't tell you the emotional rollercoaster I went through with this race! I was an anxious mess the night before and tossed and turned all night. I just wanted to get to the race and start! I was paranoid my bike would get a flat and I wouldn't know how to fix it, then I'd have to forgeight the race and not finish. I said so many prayers- "I just want to finish, please help me finish!" The race started off in waves by age. And each wave had a different colored swim cap. My friend Carol did the race with me, and I'm so glad I had a friend to get there and come home with. The swimming part (1/4 mile) was the most challenging, and seemed like it took me so long to do. After that, I was ready to go so much faster! Then I got on my bike, and my back tired popped off! I didn't know what was going on, but I finally realized the problem, but I couldn't get it back on straight. I said a prayer, and just like that, it popped back on. I breathed a huge sigh of relief and tried to catch up. After that, the race seemed like no big deal! The biking part was my favorite, I have been spinning/biking for over a year and was ready to make some good time on this part. After the 12 mile bike ride was the 5K run. Right after getting off my bike my legs felt like someone had pumped led into my leg veins. They were so heavy! But, my brother Mike had given me some electrolyte jelly beans that I threw into my mouth right before the biking part. I'm not sure if these were magic beans that made the running seem like no big deal, or if it was in my head thinking... "those beans were magic!" Haha, either way, it helped and I finished the run with minimal walking.
Jacob had his last soccer game the same time I had the race. I was so sad to miss it, but Jon recorded the whole game for me! His dad, Becki, Rachel, and Emily also came to support Jacob's last game. I was so glad he had others there to watch him play. Jacob received his first trophy! He had such an awesome season and I couldn't be more proud of him.
