Jacob's Birthday

I can't believe Jacob is finally 5! He has been waiting to be 5 for months! A lot of his friends in Primary turned five earlier in the year, so when he woke up he kept telling me that he's five, just like all his friends now. The night before his birthday, I blew up a bunch of balloons and covered his door way with crepe paper, so that when he opened it, balloons fell all over (thank you pinterest!). He loved it! I recorded it with the camcorder as well. He was pretty surprised... even though the picture looks like he's annoyed, :)

We started our celebration by making "Birthday Cake Pancakes". These were DELICIOUS! They had about 1/3 cup of yellow cake mix and buttermilk mixed in with some sprinkles. On top is a whip cream/powdered sugar mixture. After we ate that... Jacob didn't even want to make a cake!
*Hooray for me!*

Jacob opened a gift from Thad, Becki, Rachel, and Emily while they were here, a super cute soccer outfit (he's wearing the shorts in the picture) and a fun animal fact book (that he looks through every single day!) Thanks guys!
We had to wait until Jon got home to open our gift, but when Grandma Jo and Grandpa Rod were here, they left some gifts for Jacob (the Mario shirt in the pictures- he was obsessed, along with some other school clothes and this Om-Nom blanket) The night before his birthday, Jacob told me, "I want an Om-Nom cake mom!" I was thinking... uh... nope, I don't have the skills or supplies to make that dang thing! THEN, I remembered that my mom got Jacob this blanket! Grandma's have that intuition ya know. So, it saved the day. He has now slept with this blanket and hasn't even asked about his baby blanket. AH! He's growing up.

Several months ago, I found this Innotab online for $30! I thought it was an amazing deal, then about 3 weeks ago, I opened it up to make sure that it worked and that I knew how to use it, etc. Well, it didn't work, and I had no idea what website I got it from, and I couldn't find the e-mail! So I just called the customer service number on the box, they ran me through some set up steps, no luck. So, they sent me a BRAND new UPDATED version for FREE! I was so excited... well, and so was Jacob :)

We invited a couple neighbor kids over, last minute for a water balloon fight (more like target practice on the fence- because none of the kids wanted to get wet!)- so they each drew a couple targets on the fence and on the sidewalk, while I frantically filled up over 100 water balloons!

Since Jacob didn't want another cake, he did however want a pizza, so we improvised! It was such a fun low key birthday day! I'm sure we'll have more to celebrate with family when we go to Moses Lake for the 4th of July, but this was perfect for now! Happy Birthday to the sweetie pie that made me a mom, changed my life for the better, and has been such a blessing in our lives. We love you Cub-Cub!
