Jacob and I did this today and it was a great recipe! It wasn't as thick as I was hoping at first, but it thickenedup after a little while. I was surprised how bright the colors came out. I got this recipe from a book I have called, "Donna Erickson's Fanublous Funstuff for Families". She has a webside too, just google Donna Erickson. We painted on freezer paper, it's a lot cheaper and works great. The directions say to paint on the shiny side of the paper, so we did... but it seriously takes hours to dry. Jacob loved it, but once he tried to get it in his mouth, he was done, because it has laundry detergent in it. Anyone out there have a "eating friendly" finger paint recipe? I've heard of pudding paint, but can't find a recipe. Anyway, it was so fun! Here's our recipe if you want to try it out.
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup cornstarch
2 cups cold water
food coloring
liquid dishwashing detergent
medium-sized saucepan
muffin tin or small cups
Directions:
Mix the sugar and cornstarh together over low heat. Add cold water and continue stirring until the mixture is thick. Remove from heat. Spoon the mixture into four or five sections of a muffin tin or small cups. Add drops of food coloring and a drop of detergent to each cup. Stir and let cool. Store leftover paints in an airtight container.

So fun!! And painting on normal paper works fine, too. I haven't tried freezer paper; we'll have to do that.
I have a whole gaggle of fingerpaint recipes (some very kid-friendly ones). I'll email them over (you may have to remind me). Karo syrup with food coloring is my kids favorite. And you can just paint with pudding--no special recipe. It works just as well and dries great, too.
What a fun mom you are!! :)
