| My heaviest- 2007 |
As part of my weight loss journey- I have marked on my plans to blog about my weight loss for motivational purposes once I got down to a certain mark and that mark is 60 pounds! It has taken me a while- obviously... I was at my heaviest in 2007 and am now down 60 pounds 5 years later. BUT- having two babies and with a lot of weight fluctuation- I'm in a place in my life right now where it clicked for me and I'm loving success.
I have done fads... and almost immediately after have gained the weight back. I've found the only way is the hard way! I go to the gym every day but Sunday, and count my calories on My Fitness Pal. I use the app on my phone and it makes it so easy to record. I've fallen in love with Spinning (cycling) and go twice a week to a local gym. Jon has been so supportive watching the boys while I go to spin class, and hasn't complained- which has been such a great blessing, because I don't worry about it while I'm gone and I can just focus on the exercise. My family has been more than supportive and I'm so grateful for that.
I started a weight loss group in our ward, where we meet at my house, have a weigh in, a healthy snack, share ideas and stories, and I give a lesson each week. This group has really motivated me to kick it into high gear and I've been loving the friendships I've made.
I'm a full believer that weight loss has to "click" for you. I've gone up and down for years and this past year, that's what happened... it clicked. I find that when I'm having a hard time, I imagine myself at my goal, I imagine playing with my kids when I'm older, seeing my grand babies, and going on long hikes with my husband. My family is my main motivation and spending as much time with them as possible is the most important thing to me.
I saw on a weight loss blog an entry called "Some New Things I Love" So, I wanted to make my own list...
1. Being able to still cook delicious food!
2. Being able to wrap the bath towel all the way around me when I get out of the shower.
3. Being able to jog at 5.0 on the treadmill for 20 full minutes.
4. Having a strong body.
5. Not being scared that I'm going to break the spin bike when I'm standing and sprinting at the same time.
6. Being able to keep up with the instructor in spin class.
7. Getting compliments about how healthy I look.
8. Feeling healthy.
9. That my wedding ring no longer fits, because it's too big, not too small.
10. WANTING to go clothes shopping.
11. Craving fruits and healthy food, and when I do eat junk food, I feel sick, instead of wanting more.
12. Not so scared that Jacob's or Ian's friends are going to tell me I'm fat, or that Jacob and Ian have a fat mom.
13. Being a healthy example to my children and future generations.
14. Not being a statistic of how America is so obese.
15. Not being in the Obese section in my BMI.
These are just some, but important things that I've come to learn and love about my new lifestyle. I still have about 25-30 pounds to go to my goal, depending on how I feel- it may be less than that. I'm excited about the road ahead and look forward to what the next chapter in my life beholds!

Amy, I am SOOOOO proud of you! You have really made a remarkable change in your lifestyle and the payoff looks good! More important, I think your boys are learning healthy eating habits from you. You absolutely motivate me to kick myself in the butt and get off the sofa and make the changes that I need to do, especially if I want to live long enough to play with my grand nephews and grand nieces. :)
GREAT JOB! And keep up the good work! I need to keep looking at you to remind myself that I can do it too AND that it doesn't have to happen quickly. Any healthy change is better than nothing at all. :)
Love you, toots!

Amy, This post made me cry because I'm so happy for you and so proud of you! GREAT job! Keep it up! You look FABulous!!
You look AMAZING! Way to go! There is nothing that feels better than feeling good about yourself, feeling strong and feeling healthy. You totally just motivated me to get my bum in gear and get going. I can't wait to lose this baby weight, get back to where I was and lose more. Seriously... I cannot tell you enough how good you look. And even better.. how you look like you FEEL good! Thanks for sharing and being my motivation.
Amy your doing awesome!! Your mom asked if I had seen you and how much weight you have lost....so I had to come look at your blog. You are doing soooo well.
I love spinning too! Thanks to your Mom she told me there was a class here (so I signed up)....I'm only bummed I didn't know about it 5 years ago. I took a spinning class in Wyoming and absolutely loved it. Its an amazing class and I love how I feel doing it! People don't understand the class and how good it is unless they have done it!
Congrats on your journey!! You look great!
