Jacob's Preschool Experience! (and an update)
Jacob and I are starting preschool tomorrow! I've been so excited about this since he was born and Jacob is even more excited to start. We really started before he could even talk, but now we're getting to the nitty gritty. I assessed Jacob this morning to see where we should start. I knew that he knew a lot of his shapes, numbers, and letters but needed to really take in account which ones he knew and didn't know. Come to find out, he knows all letters big and small (he's known since he was 2)-and almost all sounds and all shapes that were on my assessment chart (plus more... because later on he pointed to a shape and told me it was a trapezoid, which in fact it was haha... I had to look it up, don't judge me) and could tell me all the numbers 1-15 and colors. I had to laugh because he told me that 15 was five-teen. :) Too cute. I'm excited to start tomorrow and looking forward to spending more one on one time with him while Ian is napping.
Jacob is growing up so fast. He's now 3, his favorite songs are The Itsy Bitsy Spider and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and he absolutely nursery, favorite color is orange... he picks it out every time and loves to wear it, he loves shapes and his baby brother Ian (or Moosey)... even though they fight most of the day. Jacob loves to say his full name, "I'm Jacob Andrew Dooball (Duvall)", his favorite books are The Cat In The Hat and Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, and his favorite movies are Wallace and Grommit movies, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Over The Hedge, and Despicable Me (He especially loves the part in this movie where the villan Vector says, "These are not pajamas!" He yells it every time that part comes up). He's recently really gotten into the 1967 series of Spiderman, not any other series, he loves this one!
This morning Jacob, Ian, and I were looking at pictures of Ian when he was in the NICU and Jacob said to me, "Wow he's so perfect mom!" My heart melted and I gave them both a huge hug. He does however do things that drive me insane like today... I was trying to get him dressed for the day and got him some short he has never worn since he's growing like crazy, so I pulled out some shorts that were size 4. I was putting them on him and he freaked out, "MOM!! THEY'RE TOO BIG!!!!" Totally yelling at me. So I ran upstairs and grabbed some sweats, while I was putting them on him I realized they were way too small... and realized they were Ian's sweat pants... because they were capris (man-pris) on him. But this is what he said, "Thanks mom, these are much better" I was laughing so hard. I just took him to the bathroom and checked the size... size 12 months. :) This kid cracks me up.
Yesterday in Relief Society the teacher mentioned that when she was pregnant with her first child someone wrote her a letter telling her that even though this is a baby, he might have an older and wiser spirit than your own. Looking at these boys I know Jacob and Ian both have wiser and kinder spirits than my own and I have learned more watching them interact with each other than any thing else I've studied or researched in my life.

That is so cute that Jacob likes to be his little brother's protector. They will be such good friends thru their lives. They'll have their moments i'm sure.. as any siblings do! We are dealing with more "moments" right now.. that aren't so pleasant with our girls! haha! But I sure love having two girls together so they can relate to one another more than siblings of the opposite sex can.
