It would have happened sooner or later...

Last night when I went to a friend's house for visiting teaching, and we were having an awesome visit by the way! Jacob came with us and was playing with a little boy. In the home there was linoleum flooring and a wooden bench right next to me. After the lesson was finished we were talking and Jacob tripped. I thought nothing of it, until I saw the blood dripping down his forehead. I picked him up, rushed him to the sink and tried to clean him up as best I could. He had a big hole right above his left eyebrow. I drove home as fast as I could and Jon was home so I picked him up and we rushed to the clinic. Jacob had stopped crying by the time I put him in the car to leave. I was still crying though! Thank goodness the doctor didn't feel like he needed stitches. I had given Jacob one of those large sticks (that they put on your tongue) that are in the waiting rooms and he was as happy as a clam. When the doctor came in, he kept squishing Jacob's forehead together to get some strips to seal the cut, and Jacob didn't move a muscle. I know we had some guardian angels there helping both me and Jacob to feel at ease. Whenever we say our prayers we always ask Heavenly Father to protect us and especially Jacob. It could have been so much worse! I'm so glad that he was fine. Images of when my little brother fell down the stairs in our home in Utah kept flashing in my head. When the doctors had to strap him to that board when he was about three years old, I kept telling Jon that I can't do it, I can't watch them put Jacob on that thing and hear him screaming. And, I know someday he probably will get stitches or several broken bones, but you never see it coming or think it's going to really happen, because most of the time they fall and get right back up! I guess this just wasn't that time.

Here's Jacob, happy with his new stick and daffy duck band-aid. I'll take another one and post it when I have to change the band-aid. I left my camera in the car while we were in the clinic on accident! I was kicking myself the whole time we were waiting for the doctor to come in the room.

Sad! I'm glad he's ok. Trust me.. there will be many times like that.. and most of the time they don't need stitches! Thank heavens.. anyways.. he is even still so darn cute with a big bandaid on his forehead. You have one adorable little boy!

Poor little feller! Fortunately kids heal quickly at that age. :)

Yep, bound to happen! Jase and Jayda have both been strapped to boards but they wouldn't let me go. Glad now, pissed at the time! :) I'm glad he calmed down-that by far is the worst part!

Oh, my! Amy, I had tears running down my face as the memories from JJ's similar accident came flashing back. Head wounds bleed so badly, too! You were right about the guardian angels. If he could talk, he would tell you about them, I'm sure. JJ did. I hold it as the scariest but one of the most sacred experiences of my life. You were so blessed to only have a band-aid--no stitches and definitely no "facial reconstruction" (like we had). So, so sorry!

And, on a more positive note, JJ's wound has healed very nicely with minimal scarring. Jacob's will be fine with time, I'm sure, too.

Everyone in my family was shocked and upset when I told them. Mark said, "The same thing?!" (as in same as JJ's accident) JJ got this look of concern on his face (similar to the picture above where you show us the wound). And Karlee crawled right into my lap asking about "Baby Jacob."

awe. That is so sweet. It makes my heart happy to know that they remember him! That is too adorable, thanks for sharing!
