Long Beach, WA Family Vacation

What an awesome week! We went to Long Beach, Washington this year for our family vacation. We left on Monday the 23rd and it was an incredibly sunny day! We decided to go through Cannon Beach and up to Long Beach. The boys loved playing in the sand with dad. I'm not sure who enjoyed it more... Jon or the boys! Jon was like a little kid digging in the sand and searching for sea shells. It was a blast.

One thing Jon really wanted to go check out on the way was Fort Stevens. It was really great! There weren't many people there and there was a ton of room for the boys to just run around. We searched through bunkers, found some bats, threw rocks around, and played. I think that visiting this fort was one of their favorite parts of the whole trip, and we only saw a tiny part of the Fort.

Jon was pretty much in heaven when he saw this!

We past through Astoria and went on the awesome bridge! After that we headed to Long Beach to relax at the hotel. There was a pool with a hot tub and a little wading pool for the kids.... and I forgot my swim suit!! It was insane how many people swam during rain storms and freezing cold wind weather! We only went swimming the first day when it was sunny out and it was still freezing cold!

On Tuesday we went to check out the beach, which was right next to our hotel. I loved it because we could just walk right out to the beach. We decided to try and fly our kite... even though it was really misty.

Anything Ian could pick up, he loved!

The boys slept on the big bed by themselves and Ian was constantly trying to cuddle up to Jacob! Wednesday was the day that the big storm was supposed to come in, so we woke up to no rain, and rushed out the door to try and see some things. We first stopped at Marsh's Museum. The boys loved all the stuffed dead animals and all the shells... and of course all the taffy! We drove past "The Biggest Frying Pan In The World" and Jacob kept yelling, "WHOA! Look at that huge pot!" Every time. It was right down town... so we passed it a lot. This is a huge handle that was at the museum.

Next we went to check out the Cranberry Museum. I had no idea there were cranberries in Long Beach!!! We saw many fields and the museum was actually really interesting!

After that morning it rained and stormed for the rest of the day, so we hung out in the hotel and played some games. The hotel also provided a scavenger hunt for everyone- Jacob and I did it together and we checked out the local ice cream and candy shop called Scoopers (again) and ate some more ice cream.
On Thursday, we decided to go to the beach again, since the skies were blue again! I wanted to check out this whale skeleton. It was pretty neat to see how big it actually is. It was a Grey Whale.

Then we walked down to the beach again to see if we could find some fun shells. Jacob drew me a picture in the sand (one of his favorite things to do while we were there!) This one is a jelly bean :)

On Thursday, my parents joined us! Ian was sure in love with grandpa. He follwed him everywhere!

Then grandma brought premade cookie dough to bake cookies with the boys in the hotel. They loved it! It's always tons of fun when we get together with grandma and grandpa! They spent hours playing with the boys on the floor with puzzles and other games.

On Friday, we traveled over to Tumwater to visit David and Cindy. We got to spend the night at their place before going to the temple for Kawika and Thelesa's sealing at the Seattle Temple. The boys loved hanging out with Aunt Cindy and Uncle David! They played the Wii together and Cindy saved Jacob from the wrath of mom when he wouldn't eat his breakfast :) Thank goodness for aunties!

Saturday we went over to the temple to meet up with family to participate in the sealing of my cousins Kawika and Thelesa. It was beautiful and seeing them reach this goal brought so many tears to many eyes! It was a very special occasion and I'm so glad we were able to make it! Because... I almost didn't, I forgot my recommend! Thankfully, I had the bishop's wife's phone number and he called in a recommend for me. Phew!!
