Welcome Baby Ian!

Well, most of this visit-in the hospital- has had me all over the place, the nurses are making me sit in my room for two hours! So, I thought I'd report to the technological world about our newest edition.
Ian Demar Duvall was born July 15, 2010- exactly four weeks early. His original due date was August 15, 2010, but was scheduled for a C-section for August 9th.

So here's the story....

My water broke on Wednesday night at about 10 PM. I went into the bathroom and kept saying to myself... "nope. This isn't happening, it's too early. My mom isn't here yet, I can't go in." SO... I didn't. I thought that maybe it was just some extra fluid that has been coming out earlier in the week anway, since I had been having contractions since the Friday before. After having contraction after contraction all night long and ten minutes apart from 4AM-6AM, I was exhausted. I woke up a little after 6AM after Jon had left for work and ate some cereal. I was starving! I went back to bed and tried to fall asleep. I kept praying to my Heavenly Father... "I know he's coming... please let Jon get off work, I can't do this alone, and PLEASE bless Ian to be ok, and that his lungs will be fully developed. The contractions had calmed down and were about every 1/2 hour by then.

When Jacob woke up at about 7:30AM, we got up and I got him something to eat. I kept contemplating in my mind whether or not to call the doctor... finally I did and the nurse about yelled at me to get to the hospital as fast as I could, while I kept asking if she was sure... because my mom wasn't here yet.

An awesome mom in the ward with a couple of kids around Jacob's age had said she would take Jacob for any emergency, so I quickly dropped him off and headed to the hospital. After walking in with my pants soaked... I'm sure I looked crazy, like I had wet my pants all day long, the doctor had nurses start prepping me for a c-section in a half an hour.

I called Jon, he made it! Ian was born at 12:44PM. He weighed 5 lbs 11.6oz, and was 19.5 inches long. His lungs, heart, and everything else was fully developed, but because of his early stage he hasn't been able to fully get the sucking part of eating on his own. He can't stay awake long enough to eat a whole lot. The nurses and I have tried everything. I'm not sure if it's because he's too young... or if it's because he is stubborn :) and has to do things his way. Could be both I guess.

Jacob is doing great. He's seen him a couple of times and is getting really good at saying, "I see, Baby Ian!" We are now a family of four. I feel so blessed and am so happy to be the proud momma of two beautiful and healthy boys. Thank you everyone who was praying on our behalf. Thank you dad for coming the day Ian came and hanging out with one of your biggest fans. Thank you everyone for your phone calls, texts, thoughts and prayers. They made the difference. We are all doing great and feel so blessed to have so many wonderful people in our lives.

That is too funny that the nurse yelled at you. :D I'm glad Jon made it in time, too. What a crazy birth story! Well, I'm glad he's here and HEALTHY! I will continue to pray for your fast recovery and he'll be able to eat more on his own as well. Love you guys! Congrats!!!
