Applesauce mmmmm yummy.

Well, last night I decided to see if Jacob would try eating some solid food. I busted out the canned applesauce. Jacob LOVED it. He kept puckering out his lips and cooing and grunting. I only gave him a little bit. I was a little wary about giving him anything, especially anything besides rice cereal. So, I read through my books and found that I should have given him rice cereal first... because fruit is so sweet. Ah... the new mom syndrome. Oh well. He loved it though. I'm going to wait a little longer and then try rice cereal. It was just so adorable to see his excitement with something new in his mouth. I was really surprised how eagerly he took the applesauce and how well he swallowed it. He's growing up so fast, but each stage has been so exciting to see. When I start giving it to him for regularly I'll get some pictures. Just a trial run for now.

Of course he liked the applesauce--I tasted it myself and it is DELICIOUS!!!

However, I was told--and this could be a total myth here--that you're supposed to start with veggies first so that they won't only prefer the sweet tastes. However, now that I've typed that, it dawned on me that with Duvall genes, the kid has no hope--he WILL have a sweet tooth!! :)

You're so right. Duvalls are doomed.... but, i did read that too and that's the main reason why I stopped that. I want to wait for him to get a little older and I need to use more veggies so that he doesn't turn out like my dad... haha.
